Greetings

Saturday 15th Sept 2012
Prep: Shower
Razor: GEM Flying Wing
Blade: GEM Stainless Coated
Soap: Cella and Supermax Cream + Glycerine
Brush: Shaving Factory Med.
Aftershave: RSC Balm

After an entire week shaving with the very lightweight Schick, today's razor seemed very heavy and I had to make an effort to lighten my touch.

I can now; after three days confirm what many of you already know; that Cella is a brilliant performer, the Uberlather didn't really contribute much to the Cella, I suspect because it is already so good.

Regards
Dick.

Vitos Coconut shaving soap

Progress on 2, 5
Lacoste a/s balm

After this blade felt similar to the first Chinese one I tried I decided to increase the aggression of the Progress and use a very light touch. Very nice.

Usual prep
Proraso pre/post
Vitos Coconut soap
M&F brush
Valet Auto-Strop w/ original blade (GEM to finish up)
Speick AS
Institut Karite ASB

Valet is definitely a good razor - certainly fun (and I got a set in a pretty mint condition too), but the original blades are somewhat.. not so keen after 80 years :) A bit like shaving with Derbys. Looking forward to the Feather blades, those should make a difference.

Saturday:

Cella
Semogue SOC Boar
Feather Artist Club SS
Feather Pro Guard blade
Pinaud Clubman
LEA AS balm

Just awful. I swear my technique is going backwards with this razor. I've exchanged comfortable BBS shaves with my DE/SE razors for a super rough shave and it isn't even any where near close. It makes me wonder what's the point. I'm going to give it a few more goes, but this razor may be on the BST soon.

Razor – TI 'Wheatfield'
Strop - 3" Snake, Shell Cordovan & Genuine Linen Hanging Razor Strop
Pre shave – Hot Towel
Brush - CH2 2Band
Soap - Tabac
Cold Rinse/ Witch Hazel / Tabac Aftershave Splash

2nd outing with 'Mama Chub' (CH2 Two Band) doing her 'thang' with the Tabac... she did not disappoint!! The 'Wheatfield' is seriously sharp after a few laps with the Balsa Laptop Strop loaded with Ox. Damn, I feel good!! :icon_cheesygrin:

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage unknown horn handle badger
'Webly'/ Wilkinson super sword edge (NOS)
vintage Yardley SS
Guerlain Vetiver aftershave (old juice)
Makizia 'Vetyver' EdT

BBS results,

a very good shave. first shave with the gillette super blue from the chinese blade pif, and i like it. nice and smooth and seems pretty sharp, a couple of weepers but nothing too bad. looking to see how it performs 2nd and 3rd shave, but it looks a promising blade.

Witch hazel
Proraso white balm

Right arm: Trumper Extract of West Indian Limes
Left arm: Floris Limes

Crap shave. Sore and patchy. I musn't have been concentrating, because the lather was dry and not protective and the razor wasn't being particularly responsive. I think a few days of technique resetting with a Tech, Astras and Proraso soap is on the cards.

The Floris is by far the better fragrance - to my nose anyway.

Nice comfortable shave.
Feather blades go well with this razor me thinks.
