If I can count properly (a dubious claim on the best of days, I know), then there were ninety-nine (99) craftsman who classified themselves speciffically as Razor manufacturers.

This list might not include other cutlers or various types of smiths/crafters who could have made them as a sideline, individual orders/personal favours, or possibly just out of personal interest etc.

Interesting; I would like a Lord & Harvey :!: Of the 20 or so razors I have managed to accumulate I have only one from Sheffield (James Barlow). The rest are principally from Solingen/Germany which seems a bit odd as they are sourced here in the UK. Perhaps German razors cornered the market?

Also, a fair few German razors came over here and were rebranded ... and a good deal of Sheffield steel was exported for the razor trade in Solingen. A number of mine are Solingen made but with American brands: all in all it's a confusing business.

Must say I fancy a Savage razor. :D

That is one hell of a list for one city, did no one else in the country make Razors then?

At one point, Sheffield was the place for anything steel, especially if it had a point, edge or blade. Then somewhere along the line, the focus switched to Solingen. Not exactly sure where, if anywhere is the place for steel/blades now.
