You can adjust the aggression by starting with Feather Lights and working your way up to Supers.

Agree with Blademonkey - don't buy one that takes DE blades.

I have one and it is good....however the head of the Feather SS is so much more forgiving.
 
The Antiga Barbearia de Bairro shavette is quite nice. Takes half-DE blades, Schick/Personna injector blades, and the Feather Artist Club blades. Really sturdy piece of kit.

The Daune shavette's a good shave. Little bit awkward to hold when you are using the other side of the blade.
 
Nah, the good reason is that they are pros, compared to dilletantes like us they know what they are doing :)
Could dispute that....I have seen pros use a mach 3 with cream or soap....rather than a shavette. I would argue that someone who uses a straight or shavette every day probably is more proficient than some of our 'pros'
