Thank you very much for the infomation Dick, much appreciated . P.Good Morning Paul
My Hessian strop is the back strop on my Neil Miller 3" Latigo strop and it is a very fine weave, really tight. There is some here on e-bay which has a more open weave but might be ok, if it's not you won't have lost much.

I do have several strops that I have made for my wedge blades backed with this old parachute harness and I can vouch that it works really well and takes paste just fine should you choose to use it, it is also the perfect width for 'wedge' blades. As the main strop I have used this Horween Chromexcel which I cannot recommend highly enough, it is available in 45mm so it's ideal.

I love shave of the day postings, but please can you also give a small description of how the various items performed! This would help if others were considering a particular razor or blade. Just a thought which may help others just venturing into wet shaving.
Hi, I have a focus r48 arriving this week. Thought I'd give it a try. Liked the pivot head, and that it takes the blade I like.Focus Dynamic R48 SE

+ 1 on the Supermax S.P. very good blades IMHO, ..love the trailing begonias.Afternoon gentlemen,
Unusual for me a positive shave report!
Finished early today, so got the tea cooking for when her ladyship comes in from work.
Straight in the shower and used my free sample of soap from Stirling called "pig trail"? Anyway it smells massively strong of freshly ground pine needles, very refreshing.
Decided to go with a totally new blade, the supermax made in India, this too was a free sample. Performance was better than I expected, quite smooth, but not particularly sharp, will only use this once. Popped it in the Rockwell on #3 .
Soap of choice was Stirling "gin and tonic on the rocks" reasonable amount of menthol in it, certainly enough to give a bit of a chill.
As with all Stirling soaps performance was top notch.
Finished off with another free sample , this time Stirling's executive man aftershave balm, again a great smell, it appears at first quite thick, but rubs in very quickly, leaving no glossiness.
A quick squirt of Atkinson's triple extract and I smell very nice indeed, even if I do say it myself.
Have a nice evening fellas.
