I have one hardcopy of each, GS and standard Seiko range brochures (referenced in these threads). If anyone needs a clearer detail on any watch, let me know.

To all prices (i.e. RRP minus the 10-25% off at competitive dealers) one should deduct a further 5% off if a non-Japanese buys in Japan (tax-free discount upon showing passport).

And here are some final prices, for the shown models. Pics are not that clear, but you get the idea. Shots taken at Yodobashi Fukuoka Camera Store, couple of weeks back. To the shown prices, one should additionally deduct the 5% off as tax-free (VAT deduction) for foreign-passport citizens.

[/align]Watch on the left is the PRX-7000T, one in center is the same but in gold-plated version (new model). One on the left costs $398 more here in South Korea right now, so nice to buy stuff in Japan with such exchange rates...

My first watch bought by myself for me was a Seiko, I still have it, last year I purchased a watch back removal tool replaced the battery and it is still keeping perfect time, and I mean perfect. How old is it you ask, well I've been with the current wife almost 40 years and I had already got that watch, I will have a look I might just have a receipt somewhere. Last week I was looking at some Seiko watches in a jewelers in Falmouth, they still make great watches. IMO

The Marine Masters are gorgeous!

Gosh, Seiko quartz digitals, that takes me back to the 1980s.
The "problem" with Seiko is that they sell everything, from basic quartz to very high end watches.

I'm sure that some people don't want to wear a Grand Seiko because of the brand name. My reason is much more simple ... I could never afford one ;)

You are right, some people do shun GS due to the brand name. But, interestingly, if they researched GS they would find a long and rich history which leads to today's watches having a strong pedigree.

Sometimes a little knowledge is worse than no knowledge!

I have always admired the GS range, really excellent watches.

I use a Seiko quartz at work regularly and it is the best timekeeper of all my watches. I think it was about £120 maybe 8 years ago and apart from one battery it has never missed a beat.

Just ordered the latest addition to my collection, an Omega Speedmaster Professional; The Moonwatch. Just need to get a spare day to go get it. Won't be long hopefully.
