Pre: Warm water face wash
Brush: Vie-Long 13052 Horse
Soap: Proraso Red
Razor: Blackland Sabre
Blade: Gem Blue Star
Post: Warm then cold water rinse, Proraso Red
Well I finally got my hands on one of the new Gem bladed razors. First impressions?
It really is a thing of beauty and feels very nice in the hand, the screw which attaches the cap to the handle looks a bit flimsy but it's steel, so I'm sure it isn't. Anyway on to the important bit, the shave....
I put in a carbon blade, stuck with the croap theme and face lathered with Proraso Red, and away I went.
My goal, as always a DFS, was achieved in two very smooth passes. The head naturally leads you into the shaving angle and good audio feedback confirms it.
Used an alum block for testing purposes, not a tingle. I really really like this razor.
Taking it apart to clean it, and my doubts about the screw deepened, will taking the blade off and on eventually damage the thread? Maybe, and maybe that's why the vintage razors avoided using them, but it performs it's duties magnificently at the moment.
