Razor Stands - New Project

Hot off the lathe:

Already planning to produce one for Audiolab as part of a set with a new brush order ;)

What do you all think?
 
My first thought was "WANT".

My second thought - how are you going to make them universal? By which I mean, all razors are not the same thickness.

And what about straight razors? Ah come on now, don't give us half a solution, even though the solution is awesome and I want one.
 
Well thus far I've just been planning on drilling the hole the correct size dependent on the razor!

Straights.... no idea!
 
Ive always had this vision of a miniature Japanese sword stand for straight razors.. someones got to have done that?
 
Isn't that just a TOBS mach 3 stand? Seems from other pics that it has a hole cut in the base to slot the tail in?

just a thought here...but if the top of stand was bored out to say 24 mm and seperate colletts made to fit different diameters of razors as per request..then perhaps an accent of different material could be used...the collett to overhang the original stand by a mm or so in diameter

i know its a rubbish idea and maybe not practical.....

ill get me coat
 
Very innovative, when you mentioned this I knew what you meant but seeing it in the picture it is quite nice and matching the material to the brush handle is a very nice compliment to have.

If I get some time today I might pop down the shed and see if I can produce a real one...
 
Thats the buisness! Pretty much what i had in my head.... Nice swift bit of prototyping that.
Be interesting to see what you can knock out.

I might just have a go at one myself.. tho im nowhere near as swift heh.
