Rate The Last Film You Watched

I thought it was good. Wife found it hard not to see him as Mr Bean though.

Actors in a famous part can be very personal...like who is the best James Bond, Sherlock Holmes or Dr Who. Normally comes down to the one you grew up with (Sean Connery, Jeremy Brett and Tom Baker in my eyes. Margaret Rutherford is Miss Marple and Peter Ustinov as Poirot although neither was to the book)

Totally loved the BBCs Christie drama this year, Witness for the Prosecution. Although last years And Then there were None was better.

I did. Seemed like a rather awkward storyline to try and capitalise on the success of Mavel films. At least however there wasn't any attempt to shoehorn a Christmas related monsters such as monster snowmen or mechanical santas (those storys really bug me).

Not entirely convinced on the new assistant but not really seen her in a full episode yet so a bit harsh to criticise too much yet. At least with the age difference the love interest will be banished
 

Oh very Marvel inspired but I thought it was very lighthearted and, in lack of better words, 'cute'. Then again I prolly was a bottle into it when I watched it.

Yeah...the new assistant will take some getting used to I fear. I miss Clara.

Anyway, if we can see a return of the screwdriver...and less of those idiotic sonic sunglasses I will be happy with that
 

I think it's more cultural.
The Maigret I was talking about wasn't the one I grew with (the one of the 1970's-1980's, who was really boring... If you know that German show: Derrick-like boring)

For a few years now, the French TV has adapted Agatha Christies' novels into the mid 30's to mid 50's France, the plot is the same, but they have added new characters (usually police detectives). It looks a bit like some classic French-Belgian comic strips (Tintin and the likes). I am pretty sure that the British Christies'hardcore fans would think of it as an heresy... And it would likely not do it for the Brits.

 
Passengers

Good story and good cast. I must confuse that I'm total in lust with Jennifer Lawrence but putting to one side her in a swim suit its still a good film and not your average scifi flick that relies heavily on special effects and CGI.

Jack Reacher: Never Go back (2016)
There were moments when I thought this was a deliberate parody on a movie.
The acting and plot competed for which one was worse.
I rather liked the first Jack Reacher movie but this one I couldn't even make it all the way through...after about 45 mins I felt my brain melting and had to turn it off. A solid 2/10 (one point for some action scenes).

 

Never go Back is a bit of an odd mantra to live by. So if Jack leaves his keys on the table in a cafe, gets to the door and realises what he's done, that's it?
 

The 1rst Jack Reacher was better indeed. 4/10
 
Watched two surprisingly good movies over the last few days;

1) The Girl With All The Gifts (2016)
The whole zombie-thing is a bit overplayed for me but this movie had a rather novel take on it.
I really enjoyed it. 8/10.

2) Blood Father (2016)
Sure, Mel Gibson is probably a complete douche in real life but he does some remarkably good acting in this movie.
The plot is paper thin (another 'dad w/ violent past protects teen daughter from baddies') but the acting was great - and so was Erin Moriarty in tight pants. A solid 7/10.

Girl with all the gifts is excellent, and terrifying when you know the virus actually exists (in ants)
