I am an enthusiast for quality Italian soaps. The following brands are generally exquisite:

Saponificio Gori 1919
Saponificio Varesino 1945
Diamante Antico Saponificio 1939 - New to me but seems divine.
Nesti Dante 1947 - sometimes a bit drying
Valobra 1903 - Sadly discontinued...
Gavarry L’Amande - Actually is Italian despite the name...

This is one brand to avoid and used to take up shelf upon shelf in my local TK Maxx, it's really drying as it doesn't have any Moisturising properties...

Saponificio Artigianale Fiorentino.

I'm not sure if you saw it or not but the Valobra bath soaps are back in production and are sold by a few retailers in Italy right now.
