Wanting to write something on my blog about UK brush makers, I spoke today to Brett at Progress Vulfix. What a pleasant man.
The only other well established UK brush makers are Edwin Jagger and R A Rooney although there is doubt about Rooney's operations at present. So my Duke 3, Kent BK8 and Vulfix 404 were all made in the Isle of Man where several other UK brand names are also made by Progress Vulfix. Simpsons continue to be made in the traditional way - using a very high density of badger hairs.
Before signing off I asked Brett which brush he used and why. I was most interested bearing in mind the wide range of brushes he could choose from. It is the Progress Vulfix 2234. During further research I came across this entry by a fellow blogger:

It's on it's way.
I have a feeling of deja vu here. My bell collection is based on the principle of finding world famous foundries and then collecting examples of their work. I think I'd better stick to British made shaving brushes. It will limit the damage. Just Edwin Jagger and possibly Rooney to go.
