My friends:
I just got the idea from members from different wet shaving forums to share our shaves of the day with our european continental ¨neighbours¨ from Portugal <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.barbearclassico.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.barbearclassico.com</a><!-- w --> Spain <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.foroafeitado.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.foroafeitado.com</a><!-- w --> France <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.rasage-traditionnel.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.rasage-traditionnel.com</a><!-- w --> and here in a way that we can share here and in those forums our shaves of the day.
This is a good chance to make ¨friends¨ outside our countries and also interchange shaving supplies.
I have asked members of those forums to join this forum too and start sharing their shaves of the day and I will kindly ask you to do the same and start sharing our shaves of the day in our languages (google translate its not always accurate but helps a lot)
Thanks and lets see if this could be a real european union....
 
Hi Teiste! Not a bad idea, but at least I´m pretty full up with posting on the two boards I´m a member at now. Maybe we could have direct links in the SOTD sections (a new link every week, like with the reg SOTD thread)?
 
Thats an interesting idea Michael.
The thing its just to post on the SOTD sections,thats all.We all are saturated with shaving forums,lets be honest...
 
What you also have to bear in mind is, although a lot of mainland European chaps have a very good grasp of our language, we are (mainly) British, and most of us are too arrogant to learn another language.

And yes, that includes me.

I tried to learn Spanish a few years back and so, but I couldn´t find the SOTD thread in http://www.foroafeitado.com when I looked :oops:
 
What if 5 people who speak only Spanish and post in a SOTD and questions arise who used what and what about reviews?..I think there might be a language barrier..IMHO
Please don't get me wrong on this idea..I do speak/read/write another foreign language..but speak about 10 words in Spanish. :shock:

I think it is a great idea to have a little more interaction with our European neighbours, and am myself a member of Rasage Traditionnel. Google translate mades all things possible.
 
the problem as i can see it (having browsed through those other forums) is that they are all mostly using the exact same gear that we are here. As such I dont see that theres much to be gained from an exchange of information, other than the building of relationships. That may or may not be a worthy enough cause in its own right, that's not my place to say!

+1, in my work i have to deal with Lorry Drivers from all over Europe, the Dutch, German and French are very good and no problems, i get alot of Bulgarian, Romanian etc etc, last time i asked a Romanian Driver to reverse his truck onto the Loading bay door and prepare his truck for loading with google translate, with lots of head shaking and strange looks, but we got there in the end, when i checked with our romanian accounts clerk she said what it actually asked him to do was reverse his truck up the stairs into the kitchen, or something along those lines !!!!
 
It's true that Google Translate is far from perfect. I have very bad school girl French, but I think it helps me to remedy the worst errors. I think if you have a bit of the language you can do it. Yes, it is more difficult. But I am surprised that I feel I can understand much of the humour; usually the first thing lost in translation. :D Of course, I could be totally wrong about that. Although same here sometimes. :lol:
