Pimms? What to do with it

My wife bought a bottle and no idea what is the best way to enjoy it.

Any hints, pointers, ideas very welcome and thanks

After that, lemonade, tonic water or bitter lemon. Slice of cucumber or lemon too? If I ever got down to Pimms in my heyday, it was usually just necking it by the bottle and waiting for the quick relief, that cure to life…

One of those drinks that only works on a summers day and especially when people turn up unexpected like.

Make a jug of lemonade with slices of lemon and or lime and then pour into tumblers, strong or weak as you like.


Not a drink for Tetley bittermen though

Strawberries, apple,and any other fruit you fancy with cucumber, mint and a dash of Angostura Bitters. Dilute with lemonade.and serve ice cold. If she likes it......Austins from Aldi is the same stuff and much cheaper. My wife loves it.....especially the alcohol 'sozzled' fruit at the bottom of the jug at the end!

Ensure the lemonade is not full of artificial sweeteners. A good alternative is SipSmith Summer Cup.

It's not just the Pimms you have to get right. There should be a whole spread to go with it. Cucumber sandwiches. Scones with jam and cream. Empire biscuits. Venison pie. And a roast peasant.

Thanks for all your replies chaps and I take it lots of fruit, lemonade, ice and a few roasted poor people who live in the middle of fields. Or used to.

For £20 I reckon the Pimms is more than cheap enough for enjoying a typical good old fashioned pub fight at the end of the night. Even if I do have to wear cream chinos, a blazer and boating shoes in the name of a jolly good fracas. Throw in a few peasants while at it.

Never been to Huddersfield but I do remember visiting my grandmother in Bedford during Pimm's season. We all had to hide in the cellar until it was over.

Don't forget to hang them for a few weeks first. Apparently it improves the flavour!
