PigCat's link

I clicked on pigcats link.
And eventually I ended up at a website that does specialise in supplying cat costumes of a certain type (this site is in no-way related to pigcat ) and looks quite refined (seriously) , nothing explicit , it just shows the costumes . I know I should'nt have but I had to look. The costumes are hand made and have tails .

The tails are'nt sown on to the costumes.

Then your ISP is intercepting failed DNS queries and returning a page based on the URL - in theory it's supposed to help people who can't spell, but also just happens that the ISP gets a microscopic income via the adbrokers for doing it. A reputable ISP will not do this (as most guardians of t'internet view this sort of URL-jacking as "breaking the internet").

"reputable ISP" is'nt that an oxy-whatchamacallit ?

Not necessarily... I have one, a nice small one... when I call tech support, I speak to Richard... Richard talks at the level of whomever calls him. I go in at CCNA level... the once SWMBO called and went in at "clueless" level he still got to the root of the issue. No ISP-initiated clickjacking here. I pay through the nose for it though - to have a named support agent

ISP typo pimping exposes users to fraudulent web pages

BIND developer blocks Verisign Net grab move

All your Web typos are belong to us

I'd also be completely unsurprised if within a couple of weeks the domain was bought and the page filled with adverts.

Not necessarily the ISP certain browser add ons and toolbars will try to redirect you if the site doesn't exist and even Chrome will take you to a page giving you the option of a google search based on the words in the not found domain.

And the biggest adbroker in the world is.... Google, who of course have absolutely no interest at all in you clicking through any adverts that might be displayed, never mind the fact that someone must have bought the "adword" and will be paying to have their advert displayed.
