For those that know, how would this compare to an old shaver grade black beauty I found tucked away? I understand this is considered mild so may need a higher setting.

No. 5 on this razor feels like 9+ on a super adjustable, Yes all those going to hop and point that the Gillette only goes to 9, I know.

Oic. Is the build quality and alignment sorted, would you say?

The build quality is very good but being a low cost Chinese product I believe those who had problems are right saying its not a patch on the original Merkur. However my example is good and the alignment is correct.

It can be aggressive somewhat and I don't dare working with this bad boy over level 4.
