Mehhh! So 3 days good growth,.... and so my first shave with the 37c this morning and........ mehhh......... its a razor and it shaves.....I popped in a new astra blade, used my normal prep face wash cold splash, wilko pre shave oil, and lathered up a good batch of 1912 palmer voilet. Then the shave it self was as said mehhhh.......So it was ok but it felt even milder than i'd expected and i've got a 34c,......there was nothing in this razor that got me happy, excited or mildly impressed in its shave, and I love a good shave in the morning lol. To be honest I ended up finishing off with my Oneblade as If i'd pushed for BBS I know it was so mild i'd have got irritation.... where was the magic i'd heard about slants.. this slant will not be urging me to buy my own 37c. As i've already said I have the 34c and again while thats no more fun a shave its my lil steam engine lol, i'd given some but not high hopes to the slant bringing something new to the table. and having read reviews from @Blademonkey and @riverrun i'd hoped it was going to be a YMMV situation and i'd find it better but.....mehhh.
So i'm going to try one more shave with a bad boy feather to ramp it up and then leave my final thoughts. But to be honest it don't look good lol
Poppycock! Pretend it's a 34C or any other DE razor. It is not, I repeat, not aggressive. YMMV.Just received this guys. I will load it up for my next shave and feed back here. A little bit of trepidation as Reevers on ATG hinted that this razor is a little unforgiving. It looks great though!
I'm tempted to say 'I told you so'.It was this that made me feel a bit daunted. All about experienced users only.

So I fitted an Astra Super Platinum in it and used Wikhams 1912 and got a fantastic irritation free shave. It feels very gentle on the skin: more gentle in fact than my DE89 and Parker 24C. I don't know where the fearsome reputation comes from. They are right when they say it is good for sensitive skin: no irritation or nicks at all. I'll use it for rest of the week and will see how I get on but will seriously think of getting one of these. Has anyone tried the Razorock slant?
The 34C is damn fine razor. The way I shave (mostly four passes with absolutely NO bloody PRESSURE) the 37C is better, but not by much. I have used one other slant (a vintage German Trumpf slant) that convinced me that slants can be great razors. Don't take my word when it comes to slants, many people love the 37C or 39C. If you'd listen to me, you'd switch to SE razors anyway and next year I might tell you that straights are the only way forward. Unfortunately there is only one way to make up your own mind and that's to make up your own mind. Fortunately that's an enjoyable journey...Are other slants like the Razorock more aggressive? I note you say that this is no better than the 34c which either means there is no advantage in a slant blade, the 34C is damn efficient or this is not a good slant!
Thank you @Steve Bowles and @riverrun for making this pass around possible. The Merkur 37C is going back to Steve. The pass around is now CLOSED.
