And if you don't have a box, you can loosely tie it in the position shown - just don't leave it too long rolled up or you'll end up with a ridge from back to front.

I have a proper Aussie leather hat (without the corks). you can't roll it up, but you can flatten it to pack it without a problem.

I've had it years now and it is just as good in the rain as it is in the sun.
