any thoughts of an easily readily available alternatives

thnx

i think thats taking it to another level....i would not know where to start

thnx for the info i shall delve further but was thinking tesco etc stuff.... :D

Your moka coffee should be way stronger than bodum press so in theory you should be drinking less.

I still revert to this which is also available pre-ground.

However a grinder will give you a much better fresher brew.

Beware the strong coffee :?

I used to be a big coffee drinker, until after my second heart attack  it put my blood pressure through the roof so had to stop drinking it :!: been off 'the coffee' for a year or so then went on holiday, first couple of days hit the coffee without thinking, third day was quite ill :( be careful guys, as much as I like it, it doesn't like me :( not saying it's the same for everyone, but if you suffer with hypertension at all don't drink too much strong coffee :!:

Get yourself down to Ikea and get yourself some Bryggkaffe Morkrost (it's actually from Netherlands, well, it passes through there anyway).

£1.15 for 250g - bargain! Once that first mouthfull dulls the tastebuds it's all good. They had it on offer at 2 for £2 not long ago so I bought a tenners worth.

Quite honestly, it's OK if you want to drink some cheap brews at work to get some morale in. However, if you want to nonce around pretending you are some sort of connoisseur - you probably won't and should stick to Mellow Birds  ;)

Going to have to plug this, it's amazing....

If you really want to "step up" and get really good coffee, avoid supermarket stuff. Ok, some ain't bad, and it's cheap. It's certainly better than instant. But to really appreciate coffee you need freshly roasted beans, ground yourself with a burr grinder just before you make the coffee. Trust me, the difference is huge.

...depends on the bean and type of brew. Some beans need to be rested and degassed for up to 10days to reach their best.

Go to a Supermarket and try some beans from their better ranges like Tesco Finest Columbian or Waitrose or even the one from Sainsbury's that I link above.

Freshly grinding the beans makes the biggest difference and freshly roasted within reason.

I'm not buying an aeropress but I'll get some beans from hasbean.

Do to coffee kinda making me go a little mental, I now drink decaffee and its has really calmed me down, the wife always knows if I have been round my old mans because i'm buzzing for hours

Its hard to find a decent bean that is decaffee, especially decafinated by water not chemicals but you really cannot beat the taste of a roasted been that you have just ground to how you want it ground and then run through what ever contraption you have, Instant never used to bother me but I can't touch the stuff now, also buying the beans saves alot of money in the long run especially compared to the instant coffeess, and you get a better cuppa.

Win Win

:D

Anyone fancy a little coffee bean PIF???

Currently only use a cafetierre, hoping to be able to afford a nice machine next year (been recommended the Gaggia Classic)

Currently use either ground or beans ,have both in and the ground is really cheap from Home Bargains but it makes a half decent brew.

Nothing better than grinding the beans though and then making it straight away from them.

Drink tea instead  a far superior beverage.

Well, used to drink a couple of pints of cafetiere coffee every day, sort of became immune to caffeine but just don't enjoy the taste at all now. Tea all day long now, love the stuff. Any recommendations for places to get decent loose leaf online? (local shops are pish, even the large famous ones)?

We have a Gaggia Classic and just love it, I have a double shot of LavAzza Crema e Gusto (this is in a Red White and Blue pack) in the morning with breakfast.
We try a varity of coffee's Taylors Esspreso is another good one, you need to practise a few times with the Gaggia to get it right but it is worth it better than your Costa's and Starbuck's at nearly £3 a cup.

As I said earlier I drink Decaf.

Placed and order a few days ago for

Need to finish of the Rio beans I currently have opened before opening either but the site I got them from deliver free with orders over £25, most sites are free over £50, also the first coffee they have on sale at the moment £12.99 a KG rather than £25.95. Whilst the Mokarabia is about the standard price BUT is supposedly one of the top Decaf coffee you can get.

Will let you know once tried BUT the site seems good, very well packaged and very fast delivery, with good prices (especially with the delivery charge), check them out http://www.coffeaonline.com
