I have yet to try another soap - currently using Taylor's cream but probably not working it enough.

As a newbie to this site (but seriously old) I splashed out on the Rockwell because I had no measure of how tough my beard actually is. I quickly got into the swing and found that setting 4 on the Rockwell was needed for a decent shave (perhaps 2 for a second 'evening' shave), so it's relatively tough as well as growing in all directions. Because I am hooked on Geo F Trumper's glycerine Face Food I tried Lubrico glycerine soap for a while but found that the lather died very quickly. What do you think is my problem - unbranded synthetic brush (although it's well made, big and handsome), the soap or my lathering technique? I am getting fantastic shaves, though, with Dorco 301 bladed (so much more comfortable than Feather) finished off with an alum block rub, then Geo F's Face Food.
@Boab is that you in the video? I'm absolutely atrocious at bowl lathering. What pressure do you use on the brush in the bowl? Light painting type pressure or hard to make it splay?I just uploaded a quick lather tutorial video in the help section.

Yeah I made it the other day as a quick guide. Difficult to describe how much pressure but it's definitely more splay than light painting.@Boab is that you in the video? I had a play with some Tabac in my bowl last night and got better results after watching your video. I'd describe the pressure I used as 2/3 of the way towards full splay. Reckon that sounds about right?Yeah I made it the other day as a quick guide. Difficult to describe how much pressure but it's definitely more splay than light painting.
I vary the pressure, at the start I am not using much but when it starts to increase in volume and I go fast with the swirling then I am splaying the brush full.I had a play with some Tabac in my bowl last night and got better results after watching your video. What was interesting was the amount of times I added water to the soap. I think I've been underestimating the amount of water required previously (I've probably not realised the amount of water normally available to the soap on my face when I face lather).
Also, you're very sharply dressed when you shave
Most Brit made soaps are garbage IMO. Get Cade shave soap & you won't have a problem. Chris needs to shave, if he showed up in my Office looking like that my Boss would send him home off the clock to shave.
