Olympic Tickets

Money is not being taken from cards until late this week. Only cheques and Postal orders have been cashed since Monday. Picked this up from another website today.

Am I the only one here who applied for tickets?

I bought a premier league toolkit the other day, got home and there was no hammers in it

Actually I wish I'd applied for some.

I don't really care for the athletics but I would have happily watched the

Boxing
Judo
Footy - shurely the footy hasn't sold out?
Ladies volley ball
badmington
table tennis
Ladies volley ball
shooting
Did I mention the ladies volley ball?
Volley ball - ladies
Ladolley balls.
Lads only ball games

No ball games allowed.

I think I must have been infected with a sports bug at birth. As far as the Olympics go, I can just remember some footage of the Melbourne Olympics in 1956, from then on I followed everything. As a great fan of the mile/1500 metres I was in a constant state of excitement when Coe, Ovett and Cram were supreme. Moscow and Los Angeles are still vivid to me.

I'm looking forward to fireworks over the Thames when it's all over. That part of London lit up at night is one of the world's great sights. It will look good on the new state of the art HD TV I shall just have to get to see it all on. If I'm still around after all the excitement!

Take your pic:

Despite bidding for tickets at any price I'll be watching the last night of the athletics on TV. Still, the cash saved will go towards a new TV. I don't think I'll bother trying to get tickets in the next round. I'll watch in comfort at home.

None for me, the whole bid system was a farce, people are now owing thousands of pounds because they oversubscribed while other people didn't get anything.Still there is always the rowing, cycling, marathon etc which funnily enough are the ones I am most interested in anyway.

Our kid put in for about a mortgage worth of tickets.

He asked if I fancied going to watch some of the football.

Er . . . no.

I might have considered watching the synchronised swimming, but then again, all the action happens under water and is always better on TV. Always the chance of a swimsuit malfunction.

I'm almost afraid to say that women's gymnastics are my favourite. I was going to a gymnastic's club when Olga Korbut was winning gold medals and she was my heroine bigtime http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2gNQcbicsA I think she was the first person to do a back somersault on the beam, and was great at the other three disiplines as well. Her floor routine was very captivating, and she was probably the first gymnast to smile whilst performing.
I also love the marathon, whether women or men.
I don't like particularly men's gymnastics; too bulky and strength based, and lacking in the wonderful grace that characterises so much of the women's.

I applied for one ticket - the last night of the athletics:

Checked my account yet again today:

£295 plus £6 admin. Session starts at 6.45 pm and finishes at 9.30pm. It's the second most expensive seat. I drew the line at offering £420. I should get a good view. And for me, the last night of the Olympics athletics is one of the truly great sporting occasions. About the only other thing's I'll watch live are the sailing at Weymouth then I'll see the road cycle race somewhere near Guidford.

I'm getting goose bumps already. The bells will be ringing in Sway next August as the GB medals roll in.

Just one other Olympics hope of mine. I'd swop any other achievement to see Ben Ainsley win his fourth consecutive Gold medal. He's a regular at my coffee shop in Lymington. I don't know him,and I've never spoken to him, just exchange friendly nods. No one bothers him, he just sits with one or two friends looking like the extraordinary athlete he is. Probably our finest sportsman.

Don't shake hands with him if he wins Peter, I've got a few sailor friends and their hands are like buckets covered in scouring pads capable of crushing every one of your fragile digits.

Let me rephrase that...I've got a few friends who sail.
