the razor i opted for, to start my de shaving again, is the Edwin Jagger closed comb with their latest blade head, derby blades that came with it, Jagger badger brush, and trumpers rose shave cream, now after two weeks i seem to be doing quite well, any suggestions to improve futher

Sounds like some good kit you've got there. Stick with that set-up for a few weeks if you can, so you can get used to it before changing anything about it. You will be told to try different blades next. Then try other soaps and creams. Finally you could try other brushes or razors. I reckon that's a decent progression.

Your brush and soap are good, assuming you are getting consistently good irritation free shaves then the cheapest and most cost effective way to turn up the shave quality is for you to go buy some new blades, either go really sharp with something like the Iridium Supers, or just a step up with a Red IP or Crystal. I have tried all of these blades in that head with pleasing results.

Derbys are good blades and a bit of a rite of passage, but there are far better blades out there (in my opinion). I still use them but only now and again and usually only for a single shave.

Iridium blades are available here <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://connaughtshaving.com/iridiumsuper.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://connaughtshaving.com/iridiumsuper.html</a><!-- m -->

Or go just a step up in sharpness and try some Red IP or Cyrstal blades

If you are strapped for cash PM me your address and I will send a couple in an envelope for you to try.

I have no advise as im a novise to DE shaving too, but I think I shall purchase the same razor as yours and see how it works for me.
I currently have a Parker sh91r and a Futur, both seem to work well for me but I do like the adjustment on the Merkur.
I think its my technique that needs mastering but im sure there is no harm in trying different razors along the way. :D

That's a lovely razor you've got there imo Lamby M8. I've got the Muhle with the same head & I have no idea how they manage to produce such a quality product at the price. I'd go along with the good advice of the other guys, don't be tempted to chop & change too much too often & always only alter one item in the shaving chain at a time. My own thought would be along the lines of investing in a different blade, I'm tempted to say that , for me, after a Derby you can only get better ; however they really do suit some users so it's a very personal choice. Maybe presently think about buying a sample pack of assorted blades from Connaughts. Or of course as A/Lab already offered if there is any specific blade you'd like to try a couple of before getting a packet put a post up and one of us will probably have a modest wee stash of 2 or 3 thousand from which we can always spare you a couple.
