I've had word that my only way home has just been reopened. It was a bit of a shock as I wasn't aware that the road had been closed. Given the current weather here and the horrible forecast, I suspect a rather large walk is imminent. Good job I've packed my boots. Can't find my longjohns though. I think I'll stock up on Mars bars before leaving.

Made it.
Massive detours and had to rescue a stranded motorist outside my house but otherwise uneventful.
I followed a gritter to get in which was fine on the single track road until it met two other gritters and a milk tanker.
I think the worst is over.
