Good morning Henk! I take it that you have a supply of this particular wood at present, either that or you own a brush with this kind of handle?

Both. I have two personal brushes, one with an olivewood handle, the other one with lignum vitae. I also have two olivewood handle brushes in stock, and, luckily, a large slab of prime olive for making new handles.

I was under the mistaken impression that olive was a close relative of ash for some reason, wonder where I picked that one up ... Anyway, back to full agreement with Henk, olive's smashing stuff.

I think there's olive ash too. Nothing to do with olive though, it is a normal ash with a darkish, slightly mottled figure.

Not only is olive smashing, it smells gorgeous when worked too...

A top tree the olive....it gives great wood, oil & fruit. You can'y beat that with a stick.
