Loads of Shaving mugs!!

Why they were used/made was for a victorian times when running water was not available,
the mug held enough hot water for a shave. Putting the brush in the spout softened the bristles, and you put soap in the top.

There is also a modern slant.
Assuming there is no soap cake in the "top deck" and the reservoir is filled with hot water, the brush can be rested on the top to keep warm between passes. (only works with small brushes)
