couple of recent acquisitions- 3D printed cube container arrived last week from @LeeMaz . Since then done a bit of tidying up with xacto knife , sanding , priming and bit of painting. SBS back to school arrived today after a long journey all the way from Canada ( took 50 days lol! ). Interesting scent
Very nice Russ liking the orange Japanese writing..is that your first kamisori style blade too ? Been tempted by them myself had my eye on one at invisible edge but in no rush the one I want is very expensive
It is Jay , but it has a western grind on it so is more like a straight. I would like to try a proper Kamisori.Very nice Russ liking the orange Japanese writing..is that your first kamisori style blade too ? Yes thought the grind looked a little different..do you happen to know if the kamisori grinds are different to hone and just out of interest are they more like a wedge rather than a hollow grind ?It is Jay , but it has a western grind on it so is more like a straight. So a Kamisori is hollow on one side only and then it has a flatter side , so the grind is asymmetric , when you sharpen there is a ration of strokes to the flat side and hollow side. so the strokes each side are not even.Yes thought the grind looked a little different..do you happen to know if the kamisori grinds are different to hone and just out of interest are they more like a wedge rather than a hollow grind ?
Thank you Russ that’s a great explanation so I assume they must shave differently to both a wedge and a hollow grind ?So a Kamisori is hollow on one side only and then it has a flatter side , so the grind is asymmetric , when you sharpen there is a ration of strokes to the flat side and hollow side. so the strokes each side are not even.
The shaving angle is very different I believe you have the flat side almost against your face. or though I believe there are other techniques where you use both sides.Thank you Russ that’s a great explanation so I assume they must shave differently to both a wedge and a hollow grind ?
Cheers mate that’s very interesting I did wonder about shaving with just one side..I’m even more intrigued to give one a go now !The shaving angle is very different I believe you have the flat side almost against your face. or though I believe there are other techniques where you use both sides.
