Impluse buy on bay razor - ID?

My first de purchase on the bay. I don't look too often and my de knowledge is fairly minimal but there were a few mins to go, no bids and I thought what the hell.

One looks like a tech handle with an open comb head? and the other I'm really not sure, old type? New? frankenrazors? If they turn out to be duffers I won't be shedding any tears but I've never tried an open comb and had itchy fingers.

Are the unopened blades likely to be useable?

I think the brass one is known as the 'new'.
possibly something like this:-
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.mr-razor.com/Rasierer/The%20NEW/1930%20Federal.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.mr-razor.com/Rasierer/The%20 ... ederal.jpg</a><!-- m -->

Im fairly sure the Brass one is a ball end Old type. The head isnt right for a new type, as it has the protruding blade guide pins.

The chrome one is an odd one - it looks like an old type head on an Early type (Fat handled) Tech handle.
I don't recall seeing that before so may be a Franken-Razor.

Cheers guys, always wanted to try the older Gillette's so hopefully not a waste of £8. I don't recall seeing a fat handle like that on anything other than a tech either Attero. If anything looks interesting once they arrive I'll make sure to update.

I think I've got a few different bits and bobs here. The one with the brass old type handle has me confused. The markings under the baseplate/bit with comb reads "Myall" & "British Made" which I can't even find a whiff of on the intertron. The top section might belong be something else again as it's not just brass but has plating complete with some brassing. I'll try to stick up some pics tomorrow but I'm not sure my crappy camera, and my photography, is up to picking out the lettering.

One the plus side it has just delivered a most excellent shave.

I'm pretty sure the other one has a fat tech handle, as it appears to aluminum to me.

+1. Maybe too a New's head on an Fat-Tech handle.

Just posted on B&B and a company named Myall do have some de's floating around. Still can't find anything about them though.

Maybe a Myall head with and old type Gillette handle and a fat tech handle with a new head then?

Looking forward to shaving with tech-ish razor, if it shaves half as well as the other one I'll be very happy with splashing out £8 for a bunch of odds and ends.

Is it Myall or Myatt?

W.J.Myatt were a relatively common British Manufacturer. Whereas ive not actually heard of the Myall company - but then theres so many ex-razor manufacturers thats not unusual.

Can you get us a couple of better photos of the heads?

Good to know it's a tech case - if I even need to carry a de handle only around the country I can do so as it was meant to be done!

Camera is not up to picking out the lettering. I'm now pretty certain it's a Myatt - sorry for the confusion. I asked my wife and a few friends for their opinions and everyone said Myall - looking closer it is Myatt and looks to be one of these three:

Cheers all

Its likely a Myatt handle as well then, alot of company's copied the Ball end handle design. I have both a Laurel & a Rotbart old type copy sitting in my collection box.

New phone wins where old digital camera failed.

Not the greatest of pics but you can see the stamps fairly well.

It clearly says Myatt but I don't feel too stupid as anyone I handed it to for an opinion said Myall.

The reason i identified Myatt is only becuase im familiar with the brand - otherwise i might have been drawn to Myall myself... Besides which, with the age of these things the stamping on some of the heads is less than clear anyway. If indeed there is any stamping at all. I have a couple that are unmarked save for 'made in England' .. Doesn't help with ID work that's for sure.

But adds to the mystery, and i do love a good mystery :D
