How to tell what shaving brush is made of?

Hi

Can anyone help I am fairly new to DE shaving.

I got a razor stand from John Lewis today that includes a really nice looking metal handled shaving brush. However it does not say anywhere what material the brush is made from.

Is there anyway of telling??? I am currently only using a cheap WS brush so not much to compare against?

Thanks

Shaun

Can you find a pic online to show us? It is probably boar but could be badger. If there is no description to go with the pic then the appearance might give it away.

I'm guessing boar in that one.
The important thing is how it performs and if youre pleased with it.
It's a nice looking brush.

Almost definitely boar...

Probably...

If it gives you a good lather and a good feel on the face then it's a good brush for you. Looks good too.

Burn it to determine organic or synthetic origin, then examine hairs wet and dry to try and establish exact nature if organic. Distinguishing between different animal species is generally done based on experience.
