Honing technique question??

Hi

I hope someone can help me with a problem i seem to be having. I have two razors - 1: Dovo 5/8 round tip and 2: TI 7/8 Dreadnought point "spartacus" with abalone scales.

I have a decent edge with the dovo after using a 220 and then 1000 grit stone to get rid of a couple of dings afte i dropped both razors ooooops! Unfortunately i don't have a decent edge on the TI razor. I know its a different shape but was wondering if i should use a different technique to hone it compared to my dovo??

With the dovo i lay it flat using the spine to give the angle for the edge.

Hope someone can help me!

RE: Honeing technique question??

All straight razors are honed with the spine flat on the stone. the worked spine won't make any difference.

You'd get more and better responses in the straight razor section. I only noticed it because it was on the top and your thread title said honing.

I hope your finishing the edge on something other than a 1k stone. If not, then that is your problem there.
