Hi all,

Great site - hoping you guys can help me...

I'm trying to buy a Merkur 38c but no one seems to have them in stock, anywhere! Most sites are showing 'in stock' but when you add to basket or get to the checkout, the dreaded 'out of stock' message pops up. Frustrating :(

I can get the blue and red matte finished version on amazon for about £37 inc delivery, but to be honest, if i'm taking the plunge (my first into DE shaving btw) I'd prefer to get the chrome finish.

Any advice greatly appreciated. Maybe I'm just being too picky... ;)

Thanks

Slim

UPDATE: thanks for all of the messages - really appreciated. I've now located and ordered a 38c duo from Executive-Shaving, just hoping it turns up now!

UPDATE 2: shaving shack have also received new stock of the 38c today :D

Hi and welcome to the TSR, try http://connaughtshaving.com/merkur38c.html, Paul is a member here and a great guy to do business with.

PS

Sorry just checked availability and he is out of stock, and he is out of stock, shoot him a PM and he might have the info when he is getting them back in stock.

Hello and welcome

You can try mailing Connaught and ask when he expects more in stock. Just had a look and all the usual stockists are all out as you say.

There are a lot of other razors that are good for a first razor. The 34C, a Jagger DE89 or a vintage Superspeed are often recommended. Do you really want the longer handle and heavier weight of the 38C?

cheers

Pete

Hi Slim,

Yes by the look of things the 38C is tricky to get hold of. Although it appears out of stock at Connaught I suggest you email or PM Paul (the owner) who will no doubt will tell you when he's getting some in. I've also looked at The English Shaving Company, The Gentlemans Shop and The Shaving Shack but all are out. They all have great customer service so I'm sure they'll all respond quickly to an enquiry.

Oh, and welcome to TSR!!

PS Are you the real slim-shad-y? :?

thanks for the speedy replies all!

yep i've emailed all of those guys - shaving shack are the only ones to get back to me so far and i've certainly been impressed by their advice.

will give it a few more days to see if i get anymore replies from the other retailers and also try Paul at Connaught via PM.

just been reading about brushes and soaps - too many choices on all this great looking kit

(PS - PC no need to worry, i'm sure the real slim shady is still busy going insane across the pond ;)

Hello Slim & welcome to TSR.

The 38c is a fine looking razor...I have the 34c and recommend it as a beginner razor. It may be the last razor you get. The handle is shorter but the cup size is the same ;)

Hi Slim
http://www.theperfectshave.co.uk/product/365/Merkur_Barber_Pole_Safety_Razor_38 have it in stock but is slightly more expensive than others. However, they have free delivery on orders above £50, so get some others goodies too. Taylor of Old Bond Street Lavender is a perfect place to start.

You could also try posting a message in the Buy, Sell and Trade area.

Also pick up some samples from http://closeshave.org.uk/

P.S. Would the real slim shady please stand up (sorry, couldn't resist!).

thanks for this.
quite a few people are recommending Taylor's so will give them a go.
any thoughts on a brush to complete the set-up much appreciated! ;)

(p.s. would love to stand up but broken foot means i'm siting down for another 4 weeks :( )
