Is there a simple way to tell the difference between these 2 razors? I know that there are many types of each model, but wondered if there was something specific.

This is as good a guide as any to rockets...

There are some anomalies but English rockets have a gap above the TTO knob and pointed end caps , if its also rhodium (even rarer gold plated) and has barber pole knurl on the handle it's very likely to be an English Aristocrat.

There are a few US razors that are also called Aristocrats that may add to the confusion...gold plated fatboy, gold plated '34 OC and gold plated TTO with fluted handle.

This link to Mr-Razor's site might also prove informative: http://www.mr-razor.com/Rasierer/One-Piece%20solid%20guard%20bar/solid%20guard%20bar.htm

What's doin Tony,

Man, seeing that link brought back some memories of the particular member who started that thread. Now that guy knew his stuff when it came to various razors, and took great pics to boot! Knew him sorta well years ago, before he finally decided to go poof.

He was a true collector, and one thing he especially hated was replated razors. Yep, that rubbed him AGT quite a bit. Very helpful and nice guy, and that forum lost a bit when he left.

Thanks for the information. Nothing is ever straight forward is it!!! I am going to have to read and re-read that before it sinks in. Thanks anyway. :s:s

It's confusing at first but if you keep looking and referring to the rocket post and Mr Razor's site after a while the model differences are quite easy to pick up.
