Hello all,
Introduced to this forum by Elaine (Briallen) who is a friend/colleague/fellow soapmaker. Thought I woud say a quick "hello" - you already have some excellent posts the chemistry side of things - very informative and interesting.
I do another forum where I offer advice on formulations/safety/chemistry - must admit, very happy to help here if required, but looking forward to doing product reviews from the consumer/user aspect and sharing my shaving/grooming experiences arether than the science bit . Not made a shaving soap as yet - will leave that to Elaine and Sharon, but looking forward to my shaving soap sample from EJ arriving soon (I'm based in France, but originally from County Durham, UK) and sharing with you all. Just tried a supermarket shaving soap from here in France, and not impressed - bring on the good stuff Elaine.
Cheers
Scott

Hi Scott,

Just read your post on <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.forum.fresholi.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.forum.fresholi.co.uk</a><!-- w --> welcoming me......well now i can do the same, welcome to the forum :D :D

Don't say that you make soap, or you will hear the sound of gannets in the distance !! (including me ;)

Enjoy your stay,

Steve

Thanks for the welcome guys and Sharon.
I'm based in the Indre which is central France - currently very wet and pretty miserable. Monsavon is the supermarket soap I tried actually - as I'm new to using proper shaving soap, rather than the squirty cream variety, maybe I didn't know what to expect - will compare with EJ's when that arrives and let you know.
Steve - on the other forum, it's kind of a rule not to endorse other companies products, but on here, I can tell you that the BayRum fragrance from Gracefruit will not disappoint - I have some here and it is exactly as you would expect it to be - can also be mixed with alcohol (strongest vodka will do) to make an after shave.
