Depends where you're going I think. I'd probably end up going nuts on alcohol splashes and edps and have them delivered to your hotel ahead of time.

As mentioned go to a couple of drug stores and sample the aftershave scents.
Not sure if you are staying at a residence that you can order on line? If so, there are a lot of artisan options out there.
I recall hearing that cologne’s are less expensive in the US. So as mentioned you may want to get some while your there.
