Since I can't put pics in personal messages:

Here's a picture of my current priest style -- in lignum vitae, so no weighted head. If I make this style in, say, rosewood, the head WILL be weighted.

Thanks Henk - I've drawn out some plans for my first attempt. I'll be using a much lighter wood, so will defintely have to weight the head and cap it off.

When I next get down to the lathe I'll stick a pic up!

Now where's pigcat to comment on the blatant resemblance of trout priests to some other object.....

Sorry, yes, I know, but I was looking for a Q&D way of including a pic, and uploading is less of a hassle than putting it somewhere accessible and linking to it. If I had been home, I could've put it on my mail/webserver, then make a link to it.

If you make it slighly more substantial, zebrawood makes for a nice wood choice...

I'll bet it does - my current woodpile has got mainly teak and walnut going spare.... might mock one up out of that and if it looks/feels right then I might pick up something fancier for the final build.
