I have two pair that I used in historical Old West shooting competitions years ago.

They look excellent SF; have you any ideas as to where you may be obtaining your braces from?
I had a good button pair, but threw them out a few years ago; something now I obviously regret. The problem is sourcing a colour (and of course the best width) that can be used for several shirt combinations. Agree that the clip-ons just don't cut it and would really not suit the holy grail of the fishtail. Good luck with your hunt; almost there now!
Very interesting; I still get all of my trousers made or adjusted so that they have a very short taper down to 15" at the cuff; I like to wear trousers quite full with a heavy fall; this also has the advantage that they do not fall over the back of the shoe. Used to buy chinos extra large and then deconstruct them to have one 3½ pleat each side at the front and then taper them as described; always looked good. Keep the Faith! As an old soul boy I used to have a lot of my clothes bespoke. And had a couple of suits with fishtail trousers. Very similar in the back waist to these. And had 2 pleats each side front with a raised french seam down the outside leg. They were 26" parallel to the knee down to a 18" opening. Some would have a 30" knee and 16" opening. We called them pegs. All very stylish at the Blackpool Mecca and the Jazz Funk scene. Great to dance in.
