Well it's finally happened, our coffee machine has given up the ghost.
the water reservoir started to leak a while back which I put up with but now it just won't power on.

Can anyone recommend a good Filter coffee machine (filter is all i drink so don't need a espresso bit or milk froffer thingy) for a reasonable amount of money ?

thanks

matt

Why not try a simple manual pour-over? Nothing to break down / leak. Cheaper. Smaller and most filter machines don't get the water quite hot enough but if your pouring from a kettle it will be.

try looking here for an idea.

I have a Chemex and can recommend it. However, a 6-Cup is actually only big enough for two mugs - Paul

Amazon sell double hull, stainless steel French Press cafetieres - so you actually get hot coffee. Added to which, they don't shatter at the slightest knock. I just love mine - a four cup makes one mug of 'real' Americano - 80% espresso and 20% added hot water (or, to taste).

That is indeed the cheapest and best way to make good coffee. Only Coffee Machine worth buying (and the only one who really gets the water hot enough) is the Moccamaster http://www.technivorm.com

Was looking at this for myself at the weekend and the Aeropress does get excellent feedback reviews on Amazon, which based on the number of them did dispel my initial thought of "seems to good to be true for the price".

The Aeropress is a simple to use and basic bit of kit - check you-tube, there are plenty of videos. Whilst not foolproof, so long as you're coffee is fresh, it's pretty hard to make a bad one. Screw the bottom on tight, I've just finished wiping it off the walls:icon_razz:
