Hey all,
I believed my razor to be in fairly good shape but just a bit beyond paste to bring it back to life so I bought a 12k Naniwa in the hopes of getting the edge keen again but didn't really get the result.
After trawling through google I decided I should probably check my bevel. I used the sharpie trick and after a few laps of the 12k I still had some ink on there.
This is my first straight razor after moving from a shavette and I'm actually now doubting the “shave ready†claim from the vendor (after seeing a few posts from others on here who have had issues with them) but haven't got a fair comparison to make.
A few questions if I may -
How many laps on the 12k is fair to remove that ink? I don't want to fix it if it ain't broken.
If the bevel is not set I will get a 1k Naniwa stone to reset, can I then use lapping film up to the point of the 12k Naniwa I've just lumped out for and if so which grades should I be using?
Sorry for the lengthy post and thanks in advance
