Diplomat not often seen

Hiya,

Over the years I've run across a bunch of Diplomats, with all of em being made by 1955 at the latest. This one's the only 1956 (B2) I've seen in person, although I know of other pics out there.

As you can see, the TTO knob is a different color than the rest of the handle. No, it's not any kind of plating loss like you might expect, since it only affects the knob and no other nearby surfaces. You can see the darker orangy lacquer near the handle top, but that's very common in those types.

I saw pictures of another 56 Diplomat, and it had the exact same two color pattern as mine. That helps makes me think this was a variation in the later years of the model. I didn't find anything at Achims site, so who knows.

I don't know what the TTO knob is plated with. It's not rhodium, so maybe nickel? I wonder if that knob was used for another razor at one time.

Heh, I have to say I like the contrast,

Martin
