Comparing Gillette to Merkur adjustables

I've been completely converted to the Slim Adjustable after trying a variety of vintage razors. My question is, having never tried a modern adjustable (i.e futur or progress), how do they compare to the Gillette range?

Although there's more to razor aggression than just blade gap, according to this table the Progress has a "similar" range of settings compared to the Gillette however the near equivalent of the Futur on it's lowest setting is a Gillette adjustable set on nine.

Sounds like the futur is a bit of a beast.....

My reason for asking is that I'm trying to find a new Slim as a backup and wondered if I should consider a Progress instead..?

Dunno Neo. The progress is still a very different shave from a slim, if you like the slim so much I'd get another for backup.
