i decided a while ago to get a cafetiere thinga-ma-jig to enjoy some proper coffee instead of that awful instant crap
my first cup of the day is coffee then tea for the rest, need that jolt in the morning

problem is that making a whole cafetiere for one is a pain in the arse and a bit of a waste
i looked into getting one of those smartcafe mugs but it never arrived (ebay, lost in post, money back)
then i spotted this gadget

arrived today and after one use it worked very well, even though the coffee i used probably isn't the right grind for it

looks as if it'll last with care

nice idea, i tend to stick with kenco milicano (more because i drink about 5+ cups a day)

cafetia think is a pain, here is an odd device if you wanted to try one

there is another device for tea that i think will work just as well

after half a dozen uses i can report that this is a great wee gadget

2 points of note though

1. you must get a fine ground coffee, i used some of Aldi's own which works in my cafetiere but is to course a grind for this filter as the water passes through to quick. Lavazza works well

2. pull the slide to halfway (like it says in the instructions:icon_rolleyes:)
i tried it fully shut to drag every bit of flavour out but it takes ages to pour a cup

enjoy

he's posted a short clip on how to use it

after almost daily use i get great coffee all the time :icon_razz:

For cheap every day coffee - choice of grounds.

I use the Espresso blend. Tried the others - just preferred that one.

I also use illy (beans) on occasion - also does grounds

Anyone tried a handpresso?

Could be ideal for my travels.

GOT TO HAVE COFFEE

I have & use it all the time on holidays. I have an ESE machine at home as well but even there ... when SWMBO has a tea I use the handpresso. For backpacking its a bit large and heavy. Not cheap either.

Still ok for 2 cups at a time but just. Great for a single cup. No good for 3 cups if you want to drink together.
