Christmas Cake - What booze?

Morning all - will be making the cake this week (probably a little late....) and wondered if anyone had any good tips of alcohol to soak the fruit in?

Last year we used shamefully cheap brandy and it was still exceptionally tasty.... someone I work with recommended Jaegermeister as the clove flavour compliments the fruit.

Any other favourites?
 
I'm thinking of feeding the cake with amaretto... just to compliment the marzipan :hungrig

We went for a mixture of gold rum and amaretto. The combined smell was enough to make me want a drink at 8am in the morning. Although that is reasonably common..... :lol:
