I dry the razor on the radiator (central heating, doesn't go above 40c) for an hour or so then put a few drops of oil on it, spread it around, then wipe excess off with a piece of TP. (superficial wipe)Pig Cat said:OK thanks Max! I think I'll get some sewing machine oil to start with. I presume once I've cleaned the blade I can start oiling it. A couple of drops wiped over with a cloth before I put it away? If I do this do I need to clean the oil off before stropping?

I wipe it again before stropping, (with a bit more pressure)

Can't you find a child proof place for it outside the bathroom? Practically anywhere indoors would be better.Pig Cat said:The bathroom is usually quite humid anyway and I put it back in its box only to shave again with it the next day. I will have to leave it out I think, until I get some more razors anyway!!

Yes, you're absolutely right, I'm sure I can keep it in one of the high up kitchen cupboards. Perhaps not the one above the steamer though.
