Building a barbecue

Yeah, cut an oil barrel in half and rigg a chicken net on top, or cut it by it´s length and have chicken net on top :D

Don't hold of till the end of the BBQ season and buy either a gas or charcole BBQ in the same, I finally relented last year to gas, BUT managed to get a £500 bbq for £50 because they had lost the bolts, bolts cost me less than £4 :D

I'm with Evaa, go and buy one, preferably gas. Build a shelter for it. ;)
 probably with the good old yorkshire weather, not keen on a gas one as it seems pointless might as well use gas cooker, like the charcoal taste, was looking at getting this kit http://www.blackknightdirect.co.uk/View ... ?ItemID=44

The comparison doesn't quite hold true, you use gas in conjunction with lava rocks which disperses the heat and creates smoke when dripping hits these rather than a direct gas flame. Not quite as flavoursome as real charcoal I agree but not as far off as you'd think and incredibly convenient.

I don't want to intimidate Slash. ;)

I always argued that gas was like cooking in doors and you dont get the taste, its true the taste isnt there the first few times you use it BUT as the lava rock or heat deflectors build up a coating of fat you start to get the smoked flavour and I always had to cook like the wind to get everything cooked for everyone on coals, with gas I can cook some, if more is needed its cooked fresh rather than it sitting there going dry.

When we are camping though we do use charcoal :0)

Cheers for that Antdad ill have a look, and pigcat dont be giving me more ideas im struggling for space now :(

I've got a gas bbq, we can argue all night over which is better, but I will say that the instant heat of the gas and faster more reliable cooking times means it see's much more use.
