err . . . I know nothing about straights.

I take it this is either very good or very bad, right?

But which one?

Eeny meeny miny mo . . . .

I say it's . . . GOOD.

Am I right?

Ugly as sin. Interesting steel spec though: 1095 is promising but 15N20 is a tough bandsaw steel, and the lamination runs right to the edge ... hardness 59-60 Rc ... looks like a razor made by a knife maker to me.

I'm with Arrowhead on the looks of the knife/razor (some sins are quite nice though, aren't they - or is it just me?!) and the steel sounds promising, but I really think its a knife pretending to be a razor that looks like a knife (aaargh! too much too soon Ted).

Regards,
Neil

Ah so you mean something like this then. ;)

Someone on b&b has given it a punt so we shall see what develops they do sell better looking razors.

Did you mean "sins" and/or is that a straight razor term?

If you meant sins as in the common usage, then I would suggest that some (most) are, indeed, "quite nice". It's the sugar coating on the bitter pill that keeps sin in business.

C S Lewis said something to effect of "all pleasures are a substitute for joy" and sometimes joy is not as immediately sweet as the empty calories and artificial colours of pleasure.

What exactly is this "bitter pill" then, Ollie? Are you hinting at hellfire and damnation, and was Lewis' "joy" predicated on a belief in the afterlife? In either case, I've got a bit of a problem there.

No, no eschatology needed: sin usually brings its own consequences, just sometimes they follow at a sufficiently large lag to make the sweetness seem worth it.

The applies to everything from gossip to heroin. I'm neither threatening God's wrath nor casting stones myself, just saying that bad thoughts/words/deeds might seem sweet/easy/justified at the time but always bear bitter fruit down the line.
