My Zenith Euro X, difficult to show in the picture but when it's wet the shape of the knot is a flattish fan. It's really scrubby, using the brush is like a little massage for my face!

I've only had maybe three or four shaves in the last month, but it's been lathered up with this blonde haired fop:

I call him Boris.

The handle is from Haryali and is usually found with a synthetic knot, which I pulled and put into a vintage handle. Left with what is a rather nice wooden handle, I dropped in a pretty bog-standard boar knot from China (I got 10 in a box for peanuts, literally). The knot is actually very good - it softens with little more than maybe a minute in water and lathers up lovely without eating it all for itself.

Grip, tug! I got lucky.

My plan B was to hacksaw the top off and crack the remaining wooden ring away from the knot. Basically, I was able to get the full brush delivered cheaper than buying just a knot so my intention to destroy the handle was not a problem.

True, dat. Very little scritch from that knot. The handle has been oiled a couple of times with raw birch tar which not only gives good water resiliance for the natural wood, but has a great smokey, earthy smell.
