Bristles down?

I use a brush stand - no other reason than it came with my brush.

BUT is it really necessary?

I've read quite a bit on the theory and reasoning and it's a pretty mixed bag.

Reading about brush design and build of them the only real benefit of a brush stand I can see (apert from looking tidy) is if you have a wooden handle - whereby leaving the beast bristles up could eventually lead to handle erosion.

I wouldn't have thought so, you will only get problems if the bristles are allowed to remain damp.
I'm not sure how a stand would improve things if you removed most of the excess water yourself post shave.

I dont think they are needed for the brushes sake. I give them a good shake then a quick spin on a towel then stand them on their handle in an airy spot. Bobs your Aunties live in lover.
