Anyone else noticed the Briar Wood DE and brushes that EJ do now?

I quite like this wood, shame this razor only has a little of it on the handle but nice none the less. I like the matching brush more then the razor but nicely finished articles.

It's hard to find a decent sized piece of briar suitable for turning. It is not for nothing that good tobacco pipes are as expensive as they are... That being said, I think I have some useful pieces of briar, tucked away in storage, that would be just large enough for a razor handle. No luck for brushes right now.

Note also that most of the color you see on pipes is from the varnish used, and maybe also from a stain used before varnishing. Briarwood (burl) itself has a light brown tint with a hint of pink...

That was what threw me, I looked up Briar wood and seen pictures which did not look as red as these so assumed it had to be an effect of polish/varnishing but it does have a lovely grain to it.
