I've owned a few ball end techs in all kinds of materials and from all sorts of countries of origin, but to me they've always been pretty much the same thing in terms of dimensions.
Currently though I have 2 that seem to differ a lot. One is an American gold plated job (it's probably brass underneath), and the other is an English aluminium. They look identical, except for one thing: The gold one is longer than the Alu by a good few millimetres. I only notice this as they sit in a rack, and the ball on one sits much lower.
Did the ball end techs always differ by length so much? I thought they were exactly the same design until today.
