Automatic image resizing?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who uses an ipad when browsing the forum. When some pictures are inserted I can't see the full picture or any accompanying text. However, if someone was to reply and quote the same picture it is resized and I can view it in its entirety.

I was browsing the shave nook and the images on there appear to be automatically resized. Is this something that can be done here?

Apologies if this has come up before.
 
When asked( happens with each photo) I select "Small " as the size choice. I believe those were the instructions the forum gave when I first joined.(iPhone)
 
Yes, I resize my images when I upload. Don't know how they do it on the shave nook but their images seem to be automatically resized?
