Aqua Velva Musk

Ok, after having purchased some of this stuff over in the states Ive found that i have become rather attached to the scent.
However over use is now depleting the little i have.

Ive been so far unable to source it at what i consider a sensible price in the UK.. But does anyone know of anything that smells .. Similar?

Jon,

I can't help you but am equally interested in the answer. I also use Barbasol Musk A/S. Even though they are much cheaper than many of my other products, my wife really likes them on me.

Can anyone recommend a good Musk Cologne/EdT?

Rik.

Jovan Musk is fairly inexpensive & seems to pop up in various suppliers. It's not my taste, but it does seem to have a true (& reasonably long lasting ) scent.

Go to 'shave my face' and post on the buying and selling forum. Offer 3 Palmolive sticks for a small bottle as a trade and you might get some takers.

Will only cost you £1.50 for the sticks and another £3 ish for postage (if that).

Some of the US posters are jittery about customs and stuff but if they put "used cosmetics" on the declaration form they should be fine.

Jovan is close to AV Musk, but there's no mistaking that AV.

Kiehl's (sp?) is very good. You can get it from SpaceNK. Expensive but it is regarded as the best.

Kubai Khan by Serge Lutens. From Les Senteurs. Very expensive. I've had this - it is very good.

Brut and Old Spice do 'Musk' versions.

Whoaft now yer talkin! Muskier than a very musky thing indeed but will cost you an arm and a leg. I always wanted to like the Lutens scents but most of the make me feel ill.

I think the last word in the "scoop" is mis spelled.

i too like the AV Musk, in days gone past i got a sample of the Barbasol from Rik, but i wasn't as keen on it as him or his good lady.

best bet over here is Indian OS Musk which is very nice

have seen Jovan in a local chemist but it's not on a par with OS or AV

the Brut i haven't heard of but you've got me interested now

Wow, its between $2.95 - 3.20 a bottle ~ 2 quid.

I will gladly send some over to the UK. However, I have no clue of the implications, if any, of sending liquids/alcohol overseas.

See that's what im talking about - £8.50 for what is basically a £2 bottle of splash...
I like it - but not that much.

Its just a damn shame that no retailers have picked up AV over here.

From next Monday onwards, 5 reviewers on here will be reviewing a brand new cologne, (see picture), so wait until and see what the reviewers say. It will be available to members here at half price, £5.99 (if they think it's any good of course!)

That picture makes me wonder......

"Musk is the name originally given to a substance with a penetrating odor obtained from a gland of the male musk deer, which is situated between its back/rectal area. The substance has been used as a popular perfume fixative since ancient times and is one of the most expensive animal products in the world."

You using pure deer musk? Im not trying to flame you or anything, just interested.

No, natural musk from the musk deer has been banned in the west for about 20 years now, following a campaign by the World Wildlife Fund to save the deer from extermination.

I am using a synthetic musk, but of all the synthetic musks I have tried this one is far and away the best, unless you are a real "nose" you won't be able to tell it from the real thing. And the poor old deer doesn't have to get slaughtered either!
:D
