Check out http://www.justinguitar.com/ .In my opinion this is the best resource for learning guitar on the web , all his lessons are free and available on youtube.
What guitar do you have ?
I've got a few actually, all picked up cheaply from ebay or via friends - a Chinese Strat copy, a Godman Les Paul copy (with a 3/4 size body... but was only £20!), a Fender strat-necked acoustic (dreadnought shape) and a £10 nylon strung acoustic that I got for a tenner off ebay!
The idea is to improve to a point where I can justify the purchase of a nicer guitar, I've got my eye on far too many already!
Well one of the electrics I rebuilt (new electrics) and I do fancy building my own, but the idea of having something made by a professional luthier does tempt me!

Used to play a steel string acoustic (blues and ragtime), but gave it up when the mate I played with died - never picked up a guitar since I did make a classical guitar years ago, and Henk's right that it's a longwinded business, especially making the mosaics for the rosette. I've got vague plans for a mandolin or mandola one day ... the timber's been seasoning under the bed for ages.
