The EJ does give me a better, smoother shave than the 2 Gillettes. It feels at first as if not a lot is happening but then you feel the absence of growth and with 2 passes the shave is really smooth.
I used to feel the Gillettes dragged a bit unless they had a new blade but even then they were more aggressive than the EJ and I did get occasional burn. The Gillettes were my first DE venture after many years of disposables so possibly my skin was just noticing the change?
I'll go back to the Gillettes soon to compare again but I think the EJ DE89 will remain my favourite for some time.
I'm still at the stage of trying different blades and I also really enjoy my morning shaving ritual which takes me around 20 minutes,,talk about spoiling oneself :)
